Commitment to Boston Public School StudentsTogether with partners across Boston’s Harbor and Trails to Freedom, the National Parks of Boston works closely with Boston Public Schools to provide free, place-based learning opportunities for Boston youth. This dynamic partnership works to deepen the connections between Boston youth and their city through co-created, multidimensional experiences that engage learners in their city’s past, present and future. Experiences on the Black Heritage Trail® support youth from early elementary through high school, and integrate the use of primary resources, inquiry, and play. Engaging Students in PlaceThe National Parks of Boston is committed to supporting student exploration of the sites where Boston’s free Black community fought for equality and justice. Through various program options, students can explore first-hand the sites where Boston’s free Black community fought for equality and justice. Place-based programs are designed to support specific grade levels and are aligned with curriculum standards. Each program has been developed in partnership with Boston Public School teachers.
