Motorcycle Fatality near Milepost 126 on the Blue Ridge Parkway

Roanoke, VA - On Friday, June 20, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., National Park Service (NPS) dispatchers received a report of a motor vehicle accident near milepost 126 on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

NPS Law Enforcement rangers, along with Roanoke County EMS, fire, and police personnel, responded to the scene to find the motorcycle operator deceased. The operator of the motorcycle was identified as William Greer, age 44, of Boones Mill, Virginia.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Greer was traveling northbound when he struck a car turning left into an overlook. The driver and passenger of the turning car sustained minor injuries.
