Fatality near milepost 7 on the Blue Ridge Parkway

AFTON, VA – On Saturday, June 21, 2025, at approximately 11:50 a.m., Blue Ridge Parkway dispatchers received a report of an accident involving a bicyclist and car near milepost 7.

NPS Law Enforcement rangers, along with Waynesboro Fire and EMS personnel, responded to the scene and provided medical care to the cyclist. The bicyclist, identified as Sharon Kaye Nicholson, age 67, of Norfolk, Virginia, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident. No additional details are available at this time.
