Schedule a Visit

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and Curecanti National Recreation Area offer a variety of ways for you and your students to experience the parks. We are excited to announce that the Education and Outreach program is being restructured to better serve schools and visiting groups. Ranger-guided field trips for 4th grade students are anticipated to return in the spring of 2024 on a first-come, first-served basis. In the meantime, check out our resources for self-guided field trips!

 

Academic Fee Waivers

Educational groups coming to Black Canyon that are organized by an accredited educational institution, whether self-guided or ranger-guided, may qualify for a waiver of park entrance fees. Please submit your fee waiver application at least two weeks in advance of your trip. Academic Entrance Fee Waiver applications can be accessed online here.

How to apply for an academic fee waiver:

• Click here to download the Academic Entrance Fee Waiver application.

• Fill out Section 1, Section 2, and Section 5.

• At the bottom of page 3, fill out the Authorized Name and Title. Sign and date.

• Gather documentation to support Section 5, Criteria One – Eligibility. Examples include an accreditation letter or educational tax-exempt letter.

• Submit Academic Fee Waiver application and supporting documents via email ([e-mail]) at least 2 weeks in advance.
