Harvest Numbers

The tables below show what was harvested in each of the 7 hunting areas in Big Thicket National Preserve. Hunting season typically runs from late September or early October to late February.

Where do the data come from?

The data are compiled from returned harvest reports. Each Big Thicket hunting permit comes with an attached harvest report. Hunters are required to return the harvest report at the end of the season, even if they did not hunt.

Incomplete Data

Though mandatory, return rates for harvest reports average about 40% each year. The data are provided for general reference but keep in mind that it does not provide a complete picture of the overall harvest for each season.
