Preserve offers special programs for kids on May 21st

Hundreds of thousands of children nationwide, including here in Southeast Texas, will take part in a grassroots movement to discover America’s parks through play on Saturday, May 21, to commemorate National Park Trust’s (NPT) sixth annual Kids to Parks Day.

In recognition of National Kids to Parks Day, we would like to invite everyone to explore the hiking trails, padding routes, and day use areas of Big Thicket National Preserve. On Saturday, May 21st, we will offer a number of engaging activities at the preserve visitor center for kids of all ages. 

Saturday, May 21st: National Kids to Parks Day – 10 am thru 3 pm 
Location: Big Thicket National Preserve Visitor Center, Kountze, TX 
Calling all kids and those young at heart! Join us at 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm, & 2 pm during National Junior Ranger Day for hands-on activities for children. A special junior ranger activities book, commemorative badge, and other fun things will be available.
