Are you, or someone you know, 15-18 years old and interested in a summer job at Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area or Obed Wild & Scenic River? Applications are being accepted from youth in McCreary County in Kentucky and Fentress, Morgan, Scott Counties in Tennessee for the park Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) summer employment program until April 10, 2024.
Participants will get paid to work, learn, and gain leadership skills. No prior experience is needed, just an eagerness to make a difference. YCC engages young people in meaningful work experiences at national parks, forests, wildlife refuges, and fish hatcheries, while developing an ethic of environmental stewardship and civic responsibility.
The YCC session dates for both Obed and Big South Fork are June 3 through July 26, 2024. Participants will learn about resource management and other park management issues and carry out various outdoor projects in the parks. The pay is $15 per hour for a 40-hour work week. Housing is not available.
More information about the application process is available from McCreary County Central High School, York Agricultural Institute, Morgan County School District, Oneida High School, and Scott County High School.
