Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area will observe National Park Week from Saturday, April 22-30. The week will kick off with free backcountry camping permits as well as free camping at Alum Ford Campground on Saturday, April 22.Alum Ford Campground offers a serene camping experience near the edge of the Big South Fork River on the Kentucky side of the park. There are six campsites with grills, picnic tables, and lantern hooks as well as accessible vault toilets. The Sheltowee Trace Trail passes through this campground and provides access to Yahoo Falls, approximately 2.5 miles north on the trail and Princess Falls approximately five miles south on the trail.
This year’s National Park Week theme is “Your Park Story.” Visitors are encouraged to share what makes the parks special to them. Join the fun using #NationalParkWeek and follow the park on social media.
