What are news feeds?
A news feed is way to receive a list of new web content (including news articles, media releases, audiocasts, and videocasts) sent right to your computer. News feeds are also called RSS. There really isn't good agreement on what the letters RSS stand for, but most people say it means Really Simple Syndication.

The Big Bend National Park news feed provides quick links to press releases, updated content on the park website, and other information.

How can I use the Big Bend news feed?
Receiving a news feed requires what is called a feed reader. Some web browsers, such as Firefox 2, Safari, and Internet Explorer 7 have built in RSS readers. If you are using a browser that doesn't support RSS, a wide range of RSS readers can be downloaded from the web. Some readers are web-based while others require you to install a software program onto your computer. Some RSS readers are free while others are available for purchase. A wide range of readers can be found at DMOZ Open Directory Project, Google, or Yahoo.

Once you have chosen a feed reader, all that is left to do is identify the feeds you want it to receive. To subscribe to the Big Bend feed, look for the orange icons shown above. Depending on your feed reader, you may be able to subscribe by just dragging the icon to your feed reader. Or, you may have to click on the icon and then copy and paste the URL of the news feed into your feed reader.
