Important Information for Visitors to Serpentine Hot Springs

Due to Covid 19, the facilities at Serpentine Hot Springs will have very limited cleaning and maintenance this summer. The National Park Service (NPS) asks that you maintain a distance of 6-feet between guests who are not traveling in the same party and wash your hands or use hand sanitizer. Visitors must not rely upon the NPS to ensure their protection from contagious disease. For general information on traveling to and overall health and safety considerations at the hot springs please go to the Serpentine Hot Springs webpage on our website (www.nps.gov/bela).

Staying Safe at Serpentine Hot Springs during the Covid-19 Pandemic

  • Avoid traveling to the hot springs if you are exhibiting Covid like symptoms. (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html)
  • Bring your own cleaning supplies, soap and/or hand sanitizer.
  • Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer.
  • Visitors should try and maintain 6-feet between guests who are not traveling in the same party.
  • Avoid sharing a “side” (sleeping/cooking space) with visitors who are not in your party.
  • Bring your own camping equipment, sleeping bags, and tents, just in case the bunkhouse already has visitors.
  • Avoid sharing the hot tub with visitors who are not in your party.
  • If possible, surfaces should be cleaned after they are touched.
  • Wash your dishes in warm, soapy water before you leave.
  • Do not pour gray water and cleaners into the river or into the hot springs, always dispose of gray water next to the airstrip or in the outhouse. Gray water includes all water that has been used for cleaning, brushing teeth, washing hands, etc.
  • Pack out your trash, due not leave trash in the bunkhouse.
  • Due to the risk it may have on our firefighters during this pandemic, we ask that you do not use the burn barrel or light campfires
