The Alaska Department of Fish & Game and the National Park Service will start year 1 of a 3-year fish inventory and genetics project in the following rivers: Serpentine, Nuluk, Arctic, and Nugnugaluktuk.Why is the project necessary?: To develop an inventory of salmon and non-salmon species in Bering Land Bridge. Determine new areas of salmon spawning ground; understand the chum salmon genetic relationship to other chum salmon in Norton Sound waters.
When: August 10th - August 30th 2021
Where: Serpentine, Nuluk, Arctic, and Nugnugaluktuk Rivers
Aircraft: Bering Air R-44 helicopter will be used to transport crew to sample sites.
