Los Alamos, N.M. – Bandelier National Monument’s popular Fall Fiesta is returning to the park on October 12-13. The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm around the park’s visitor center in Frijoles Canyon.
More than 40 vendors are expected to participate in the two-day event. Handmade items such as pottery, jewelry, drums, carvings, and more will be for sale. Dance groups will also perform throughout the weekend. There will be special ranger-led programs and guest speakers. The event is being sponsored by the Friends of Bandelier National Monument and Western National Parks Association. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the park’s café, Sirphey at Bandelier.
Atomic City Transit will be operating a complimentary shuttle between the park’s Frey Trail parking lot and the Frijoles Canyon visitor center on Saturday, October 12. It is not mandatory. However, the shuttle is recommended due to limited parking in Frijoles Canyon.
The shuttle will not run on Sunday, October 13. It is common for the parking lots in Frijoles Canyon to reach full capacity. When this happens, visitors are not permitted to enter, and are asked to return later in the day. It is recommended to arrive before 9 am or after 3 pm to avoid parking lot congestion.
The air is getting crisp, the box elders are turning yellow, and the canyon is full of the song of robins. Come celebrate fall with us at Bandelier!
