Sage Creek Rim Road is closed due to a landslide. More cracks are forming indicating the potential of more slides in the area.

The landslide was discovered while park maintenance road crew was out performing condition assessments of Sage Creek Rim Road on January 5, 2021.  The landslide area is located 2.4 miles west of Highway 240 on Sage Creek Rim Road.  The landslide area is approximately 300 feet long and is within 26 inches of the roadway surface.

Sage Creek Rim Road is closed to vehicles from Highway 240 (Pinnacles Entrance) to the junction with Sage Creek Road approximately 6.42 miles. There is no established time table to reopen the road at this time.

The road is open to hikers and bicyclists.  Park visitors utilizing the road are encouraged to use caution if travelling by the landslide area that is marked of with orange traffic cones at the 2.4 mile area.  Hikers and bicyclists should park in designated areas and asked not to block the road closed gates at the East and West ends of Sage Creek Rim Road.
