Mask Requirements (updated 6-30-2022)
Badlands National Park is closely monitoring and will adjust signage according to community transmissions levels and masking requirements. Additional details are available below and at www.nps.gov/coronavirus or by calling the Ben Reifel Visitor Center front desk at (605) 433-5241 between the hours of 9AM-5PM, 7 days a week.
As of 6/30/2022, community transmission levels are MEDIUM in Pennington County, therefore masks are RECOMMENDED inside federal facilities, regardless of vaccination status.
In areas the CDC identifies as a high COVID-19 community level, masks are required for everyone in all NPS buildings, regardless of vaccination status. In most low and medium COVID-19 community level areas, masks are optional, but visitors should follow signs and instructions from park staff and volunteers. Visitors and employees are always welcome to wear a mask if it makes them more comfortable.
