Berlin MD - The National Park Service (NPS) is pleased to announce the completion of the Record of Decision for the General Management Plan/Environmental Impact Statement for Assateague Island National Seashore.
"The General Management Plan (GMP) will guide Assateague Island National Seashore managers for the next 15 to 20 years in protecting the Seashore's complex resources as well as its popular recreational opportunities," said Seashore Superintendent Hugh Hawthorne. The plan recognizes the dynamic coastal processes that influence the barrier island and outlines how the NPS will make visitor facilities and other seashore infrastructure more sustainable and resilient over time. The Record of Decision was signed by the National Park Service Regional Director on July 26th, 2021.
