In person programming at National Mall and Memorial Parks was suspended beginning in March 2020 due to COVID-19. Partners conducted symphonies, produced virtual theater shows, educated teachers and students, and designed new virtual activities to engage National Park Service supporters. National Mall and Memorial Parks education staff collaborated with partners such as Ford’s Theatre Society, CyArk, and Live It Learn It to design and deliver curriculum-based virtual programs to thousand of students locally and nation-wide. Partners invested more than $7 million in 2020 to provide special events and programming to millions of local, national, and international audience members.

DC 8th Graders learn and read quotes from George Mason and the Constitutional Convention members, led by Ranger Bagent, January 30, 2020. Park Rangers conducted over 270 separate education and special programs serving over 12,500 students, visitors, and others in 2020. Programs were delivered virtually and in person prior to the pandemic.
