Step into history with this episode of Off the Shelf as Museum Technician Christine highlights the powerful story and collection of WWII POW Staff Sergeant Edgar Van Valkenburg. Van Valkenburg served as a radio operator aboard the B-17 “Bolevich” before being shot down over Germany in 1943, wounded, and captured. He endured imprisonment at Stalag 17B, a brutal forced march in 1945, and was ultimately liberated by General Patton’s 13th Armored Division.
