As a part of the National Park Service nationwide effort to implement long-term climate monitoring, the National Park Service in cooperation with the Western Regional Climate Center erected a weather station at American Memorial Park. David Simeral of the Western Regional Climate Center and Ranger Justin Mills along with American Memorial Park staff began installation of the weather station on February 25, 2014. The weather station is operated under the Inventory and Monitoring program and data from the station is maintained by the Western Regional Climate Center under the Desert Research Institute. Data is collected 24 hours a day, updated every 10 minutes, and available for viewing on the following website: www.wrcc.dri.edu/weather/amme.html
Visit the Pacific Islands Network page to learn about the Inventory and Monitoring at American Memorial Park. Scientists collect and review data on plant communities, water quality, groundwater dynamics, established invasive plants and climate.
