DEL RIO, TEXAS – Amistad National Recreation Area is requesting public comment on a proposal to increase group campsite camping permit fees beginning in 2022. All other fees will remain the same.
Currently, the park charges $2 per person, per night, with a $30 minimum fee for both night and day use for up to 14 nights. The proposal includes moving fees from a per-person, per-night fee to a tiered-rate fee. Additionally, group campsites will move to an online reservation system, and the proposal would increase the rate by a total of $5 per night within each tier to cover processing fees. The proposed tiered rates are as follows:
277N Group Campsite: 1-15 people $35, 16-35 max people $75.
Rock Quarry Group Campsite: 1-15 people $35, 16-35 max people $75.
San Pedro Group Campsite: 1-15 people $35, 16-35 people $75, 36-75 max people $155.
This is comparable to other parks in the region. The average cost of 9 other parks within the region is 42 people per site for $240.
We are pleased to offer soon the convenience of Recreation.gov, where Amistad National Recreation Area group campsites will be listed for reservations. Standard campsites will remain available on a first-come, first-served basis.
This park proposal will simplify and improve park processes for our visitors. Park visitors are encouraged to contact us with comments or concerns.
Thank you for your continued interest in Amistad National Recreation Area!
