Join a Park Ranger for a three mile hike of Inclined Plane No. 8 on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Reservations are required for this free hike and can be made by calling the Visitor Center at 814-886-6150.Of the ten inclined planes on the Allegheny Portage Railroad, No. 8 was the longest and steepest. Participants will learn about the inclined planes and levels of the railroad, how the system functioned, and view a historic culvert.
Participants are encouraged to wear good walking shoes and bring water. The hike contains steep slopes and rough surfaces. It will take place rain or shine.
