Following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Department of the Interior and state and local officials, Agate Fossil Beds National Monument is open with some restrictions and facility closures in place.

Visitor Center

OPEN: The Agate Fossil Beds Visitor Center main room, restrooms, and park store are open. An 11-person occupancy limit is enforced.

CLOSED: The James Cook Collection of Lakota Artifacts remains closed until further notice. The theater, including the park movie, is also closed.

Roads and Trails

OPEN: All park roads, trails and outdoor exhibits are open. NPS and DOI policy states that masks must be worn on trails by staff and visitors when six foot social distancing cannot be maintained. Most of our trails are less than six feet wide, so keep this in mind when passing other groups.
