Schoodic Woods Campground

Schoodic Woods Campground is located 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Winter Harbor on the Schoodic Peninsula. It is the only campground on the mainland section of the park.

  • Season Dates: May 25 through October 9, 2022 (subject to change)

  • Reservations are available 2 months in advance below and at recreation.gov

  • Camping Fees (Paid at time of reservation, not at the campground):

    • Hike-in tent sites (primitive): $22

    • Drive up tent/small RV (20 amp): $30

    • RV with electric only sites (20/30/50 amp): $36

    • RV with electric and water (20/30/50 amp): $40

    • Group tent sites: $60

Discounts are available for Senior and Access pass holders.

NOTICE: At all hike-in campsites, setting, building, maintaining, attending, or using a campfire (including charcoal) is prohibited. Stoves and grills fueled by petroleum fuels such as Liquid Propane Gas (LPG), butane, or white gas are allowed.

Campground FAQs

  1. I have not made a reservation. Are there any campsites available for tonight?
    There are no same day reservations and no campsites are available for request upon arrival. All campsite reservations must be made in advance on Recreation.gov.

  2. Are there any campsites available on ______ (a future date)?
    Campsite availability is shown on each campground's Recreation.gov page. On the Campsite List tab, enter your preferred dates and click on Availability Grid.

  3. Does Schoodic Woods Campground have showers?
    No. There are no showers at Schoodic Woods Campground.

  4. How far is Schoodic Woods Campground from Acadia National Park?
    Schoodic Woods Campground is part of Acadia National Park. It is about a 1 hour and 15 minute drive from Bar Harbor, near where the main area of the park is located.

  5. We will be arriving late. Is there anything we need to do?
    Arriving after hours? Your name and site number will be posted on the Late Arrivals board behind the ranger station. You must check in at the ranger station before 10:00am on the day after your scheduled arrival date. If you cannot check in by that time, you must call (207) 288-1300 or you will be marked a No Show and incur fees.
