Lost and Found

If you have found an item, immediately take the item to the nearest Acadia National Park facility to be processed.

Please keep in mind that per National Park Service policy, lost and found property must be held for a period of 60 days. Items which are not claimed by the owner within the 60 days will be considered abandoned to the United States and title of ownership is automatically transferred to the National Park Service. That title reverts to the owner if a proper claim is filled by the owner prior to official disposition.

To help us sort through the immense volume of reports we receive, please be as specific as you can with item descriptions.

For instance, if you are reporting lost glasses, please specify:

  • Type (rx, readers, sunglasses)
  • Brand, if known
  • Frame color or design

If you are reporting a lost cellphone, please specify:

  • Brand & model
  • Color
  • Case brand & color
  • Alternative contact number
