Bar Harbor, ME - In celebration of the 6th annual National Junior Ranger Day, Acadia National Park will host two special family festivals. Children 12 and under and their families are invited to get outside, get moving, explore, and discover how to protect Acadia's nature and history. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the great outdoors! Children must be accompanied by an adult.

On Saturday April 21, join us at the Schoodic Education and Research Center (SERC) campus south of Winter Harbor from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy an afternoon searching for salamanders, testing your skills as a junior firefighter, exploring the water cycle, creating with an artist, learning about sea creatures, and other fun events. Call 207-288-1312 to find out more about Junior Ranger Day at Schoodic.

On Mount Desert Island, special outdoor activities will take place Saturday, April 28 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sieur de Monts Spring area on Route 3 south of Bar Harbor. Play with pioneer toys, meet Smokey Bear, try out Native American games, compete in Animal Olympics, create nature art, or try tracking wildlife, along with other active stations. Call 207-288-8812 for more information. This event is co-sponsored by the Wild Gardens of Acadia.

Stop by anytime and stay as long as you can. These popular days are free and activities take place rain or shine, so please come prepared for the weather. National Park Service Junior Ranger supplies will be given out while they last!
