Acadia National Park is accepting proposals for three seasonal ranger-narrated boat cruises in the waters around Mount Desert Island that would provide safe and quality interpretive experiences for park visitors. The boat cruises include a Frenchman Bay Route, Islesford Historic Route to Little Cranberry Island, and a Marine Life Route.

All proposals that are consistent and compatible with the purpose and function of interpretation at Acadia National Park are welcome. Any person or organization meeting the specific requirements may participate in the competitive process.

Proposals will be evaluated by a National Park Service panel to assure that prospective boat operators have the experience, equipment, and demonstrated intent to provide the proposed services.

Evaluation criteria are set forth in the Request for Proposals, along with historical, interpretive, and logistical data on the tours, and proposal submission requirements. All proposals received within the stated time period will be evaluated by the National Park Service and the proposals considered to best meet the criteria will be selected as the basis for negotiation and a final memorandum of agreement.

Persons interested in submitting a proposal may contact the park for complete proposal submission requirements. Contact the park at 207-288-3338, ext. 0, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or write Acadia National Park, P.O. Box 177, Bar Harbor, ME 04609. Deadline for submissions is Monday, February 26, 2007.
