The Acadia National Park Advisory Commission will meet from 1–3 pm on Monday, September 12, 2016, in Moore Auditorium (65 Acadia Drive) at the Schoodic Education and Research Center in Winter Harbor.The meeting is open to the public and includes an opportunity for public comment. The Advisory Commission will discuss its letter to the Maine Department of Transportation concerning the rehabilitation of the Duck Brook culvert as part of the upcoming Route 3 construction project, and address several administrative items, including the process for electing officers, making committee assignments, and setting meeting dates for 2017. Superintendent Kevin Schneider will provide reports on the transportation plan and entrance pass compliance and sales. Friends of Acadia and Schoodic Institute will provide separate updates on their activities and programs. Congress created the Acadia National Park Advisory Commission in 1986 to consult with the National Park Service on matters relating to the management and development of the park, including, but not limited to, the acquisition of lands and interests in lands.The Commission is composed of 16 members with three members appointed by the Secretary of the Interior, three members appointed by the Governor of Maine, and one member appointed by each of the following towns: Bar Harbor, Cranberry Isles, Frenchboro, Gouldsboro, Mount Desert, Southwest Harbor, Swans Island, Tremont, Trenton, and Winter Harbor. |
