Acadia National Park Headquarters Facilities Public Meeting Meeting Date and Time: March 15, 2011 – 4:30 to 6pm Bar Harbor, ME - Acadia National Park will hold a public meeting at the Mount Desert Island High School Library on Tuesday, March 15, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., to discuss the need for improved headquarters facilities. Park representatives will be present to discuss the process and listen to your ideas. Acadia National Park is considering how best to address the need for improved headquarters facilities. The offices and shops at McFarland Hill were constructed during the 1960s for use by Job Corps and are now crowded, obsolete with code and structural deficiencies, and energy inefficient. Park staff are reviewing space needs and considering alternatives including rehabilitation of the existing facilities, construction of new facilities on the McFarland Hill site, and relocation to another site if a suitable location could be found. While no construction funds are currently available for this project, estimates prepared during the planning process will be used to request future funding. Please contact Acadia's Chief of Maintenance, Jim Vekasi, at (207) 288-8750 for more information |
