(Bar Harbor, Maine) – The eCruise, Acadia National Park’s virtual tour of the coastal islands and  waters off the coast of Mount Desert Island, won a first place media award at the National Association for Interpretation (NAI) annual conference held in Portland, Oregon, last month. NAI is a not-for-profit professional organization for individuals working in the interpretation of natural and cultural resources in settings such as parks, museums, nature centers, and historical sites.

The eCruise includes the sounds of calling seabirds and crashing waves; the sights of lighthouse beacons and coastal scenery; close-up views of museum content and tidepool animals; and more. Participants can tailor their experience by choosing from a variety of media—audio, video, text, panoramic images, maps, and photographs. You can experience the eCruise for yourself on the park website at www.nps.gov/acad/photosmultimedia/virtualtour.htm.
