Animal Interviews Videos

Overview:

Animal interview videos are 5-7 minute presentations on animals in Acadia. These videos can be used individually or as an extension with Amazing Animal Adaptations Virtual program or in-person adaptation field trips.

  • Essential Question: How do adaptations help animals survive?
  • Objectives: Students will be able to identify several species of animals that live in Acadia National Park and at least one adaptation that each animal possesses and how it helps them survive.
  • Vocabulary: Adaptation, Camouflage, Predator, Prey, Endothermic (warm-blooded), Ectothermic (cold-blooded)
  • Maine Standards:
    • E1 Biodiversity: Students compare living things based on their behaviors, external features, and environmental needs.
    • E2 Ecosystems: Students describe ways organisms depend upon, interact within, and change the living and non-living environment as well as ways the environment affects organisms.
  • Next Generation Science Standards:
    • 3-LS4-3. Construct an argument with evidence that in a particular habitat some organisms can survive well, some survive less well, and some cannot survive at all.
    • LS4.C: Adaptation: For any particular environment, some kinds of organisms survive well, some survive less well, and some cannot survive at all.
