Kristin Myers

Kristin Myers resides in Savannah, GA where she works as a Foundations Professor teaching Design and Drawing at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). She received her BFA in Painting and Drawing from SCAD in 2006 and her MFA in Studio Art from the Moore College of Art and Design in 2013. Since then, she worked in her home state of New Jersey as a gallery manager of The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences co-curating more than 30 exhibitions and taught adjunct painting and drawing classes for local community colleges. In 2018 Kristin returned to Savannah as an art preparator for SCAD’s Museum exhibition team. Her employment at the university has provided her unique opportunities to work with world renowned artists in unique settings and media including Design Miami, and SCAD’s satellite campus in Lacoste, France. Each experience fueled sketchbook entries which inspire her drawings and paintings.

As an avid explorer of coastlines around the globe, Myers maintains a fresh perspective and enthusiasm for her oceanic work. From surf and tides to storms and human impact she observes and interprets these interactions in varying methods of ink and pigment. Her work has been shown nationally in Savannah, Philadelphia, Florida, New Jersey, and internationally in Ireland and France. Her latest commissioned mural resides in a new private space in Savannah in the form of an 11-by-29-foot crashing wave with laser cut acrylic offsets. This work has inspired Myers to push the scale and materiality of her typical works on paper. While her teaching career advances, she continues to explore coastlines to fervently fill her sketchbooks with ideas and inspirations.
