The Trail Crew at Acadia has a new tool shed, with almost all of the design and over 50% construction efforts coming from volunteers. This larger facility was needed to better consolidate the crew’s many tools, and house them in adequate storage and provide protection from the elements. Design concepts for the initial structure were worked out and agreed upon by Trails Foreman Gary Stellpflug and longtime Acadia volunteer, Mark Munsell in the summer of 2018.

One of our other longtime carpentry volunteers, Kip Warren then came into the picture and started design plans for the outside stairs. These plans began in February, and by April, Kip was outside constructing them, along with fellow volunteers Bob Graham and Ken Burgess. It is just now the end of May and the stairs are completed and the volunteers are working on re-purposing shelves, tool racks, and mounts from one of Trail Crew’s smaller, now defunct tool trailers.

Many thanks go out to all of the volunteers who have helped in the construction and functionality of this new tool shed!
