National Park Service’s Northeast Regional Director, Gay Vietzke recognized the Sign Shop volunteers for demonstrating,“…the power of collaboration, the value of creating and maintaining partnerships, the importance of educating the community”, as well as being great examples of volunteerism in our national parks. The Sign Shop volunteers were one of several national park volunteer groups recognized in the Northeast Region.
During the winter, Sign Shop volunteers donated over 1,200 hours; cutting, shaping, and routing over 105 individual signs and 11 sign posts. They are the soul group in Acadia who maintain the upkeep of our carriage road signs, as well as many other behind the scene projects. We are incredibly fortunate to have them here at Acadia National Park; their skills and expertise as Sign Makers is unparalleled.
