Abraham Lincoln Birthplace NHP Seeks Volunteers for Park Care Day! Are you good with planting seeds?  Do you know your way around a garden?  Can you operate power tools? Well, we have a job for you!

The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park will host the first annual Park Care Day on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Boyhood Home Unit at Knob Creek from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (ET)

Park volunteers will be called upon to work on various projects including planting the park’s interpretive garden at Knob Creek.  Staff members conducted research to find heirloom variety seeds that are close to what they believe the Lincoln family might have grown in their garden while living at the Knob Creek Farm.  Seeds for Bloody Butcher Corn, Indian Corn, Scarlet Pole Runner Beans, Connecticut Field Pumpkins, among others will be planted. Visitors from all over the world will visit and view the garden over the course of the summer.

For more information, and for those who are interested in participating in the event are encouraged to register by calling the Birthplace Visitor Center at 270-358-3137.
