HODGENVILLE, KY – On Saturday, November 19th 2022 the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park will host its annual Gettysburg Address Anniversary Memorial Building Illumination. Join park staff as we observe the 159th anniversary of the delivery of the Gettysburg Address. This program is free and will occur outside the Memorial Building on the Birthplace grounds.
At 6:30 p. m. (ET), join Larry Elliott as he portrays Abraham Lincoln for a special meet and greet with visitors. All visitors are encouraged to interact with Mr. Lincoln and ask him questions about his life and times. At this time, Mr. Lincoln will be happy to pose for photographs with any visitors who wish to take a picture with him.
The event will begin at 7:00 p. m. (ET) with brief remarks from the park’s Chief of Interpretation, Stacy Humphreys. Larry Elliott will continue his portrayal of Mr. Lincoln to recite the Gettysburg Address. Following his “few appropriate remarks,” the evening will conclude with a short concert by the Kentucky Home Guard Band. The band will play music from the Civil War era, including a song that was played at the dedication of the National Soldiers Cemetery, on November 19, 1863, the day Lincoln gave his immortal Gettysburg Address.
For more information about the events, visit the park’s Facebook page at https:www.facebook.com/LincolnBirthplaceNPS or visit the park’s website at www.nps.gov/abli. Any delay or cancellation of the event due to severe weather will be posted on our Facebook page.
