HODGENVILLE, KY - Abraham Lincoln Birthplace NHP will host the Fall Night Sky Program “Starry, Starry Night” at the Boyhood Home Unit at Knob Creek on Friday, October 13, 2023. The Knob Creek Tavern visitor center will open at 7:30 p.m. (ET) for the Night Sky Program, which will feature night sky themed activities, and the bookstore will be available for visitors to make purchases.
Dr. Mark Pitts, of Eastern Kentucky University’s Department of Physics, Geosciences, and Astronomy, will provide a tour of the fall night sky and will discuss topics including stars, planets, light pollution, and dark skies. Dr. Pitts will also demonstrate the workings of a telescope, which will allow visitors the chance to see the night sky up close. The program will begin at 8:30 p.m. and will end no later than 9:30 p.m. (EST.)
Visitors are encouraged to bring a flashlight, bug spray, and a blanket/chair, as well as wear closed-toe shoes and weather appropriate clothing.
