Hodgenville, KY - Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park is currently undertaking a pavement preservation project in the park that started on Monday, April 13, 2020. All visitor parking lots at the Birthplace Visitors Center, Birthplace Picnic Area and Boyhood Home Unit at Knob Creek will be affected. The work will consist of applying a preventive maintenance action to the roadway surface that includes minor spot repairs (patching), crack sealing and the application of a surface seal or non-structural overlay.
The parking lot at Birthplace Visitors Center will be closed starting Monday, April 13th to Friday, April 17, 2020, and closed again on April 20th to April 24, 2020. The lot will reopen on April 24, 2020. The Park Entrance road at the Birthplace will be down to one lane only from April 22nd to April 24th. And finally, the Birthplace Picnic Area lot will be closed from April 20th to April 24th. The parking lot at the Boyhood Home Unit at Knob Creek will be closed from May 11th to May 15, 2020. This work is weather dependent, so in the event of rain, these dates will be pushed back. Visitors are asked to park in the Overflow Parking Area at the Birthplace during the time of the closure of the Birthplace Visitors Center Lot. Handicapped access will remain available. While the park buildings remain closed, the park's grounds and hiking trails remain open.
