On February 12th, the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park will host several special events to mark the 207th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln.  All events are free and open to the public.

At 10:00 a.m. park staff members will continue an annual tradition of placing a wreath at the Symbolic Birth Cabin in the park's Memorial Building.

At 10:30 a.m. park Superintendent Jay Grass will unveil a new, temporary exhibit in honor of the park's Centennial anniversary.  The National Park Service also turns 100 years old in 2016.  The exhibit will feature the ceremonial trowel used by President Theodore Roosevelt when he dedicated the laying of the Memorial Building's cornerstone in 1909.  This trowel is on loan to the park from the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historical Park.  The exhibit will run from February 12, 2016 to December 31, 2016.

"We invite everyone to come and share in the celebration and honoring of the birth of Abraham Lincoln on this centennial year of the National Park Service," said park Superintendent Jay Grass.
