HODGENVILLE Ky – Our third presenter of the year, Dr. Matthew Norman, will continue the 2023 presenter series, “Lincoln In Historical Memory”, on Saturday, October 14th at 12:00 p.m. (EDT). This free program will take place at the Larue County Public Library located near the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace.
Dr. Matthew Norman is a Professor of History at the University of Cincinnati, Blue Ash. Dr. Norman is the co-editor of Knowing Him By Heart: An Anthology of African American Writings on Abraham Lincoln, a review of writings of how Abraham Lincoln was remembered by African Americans. Dr. Norman has been a visiting Professor of History at Gettysburg College and has also written on Abraham Lincoln and his connections with race in America. His presentation will last around an hour with room for questions at the end.
The theme for our 2023 presenter series is “Lincoln In Historical Memory”. Historians will shed light on how Abraham Lincoln has been remembered through time, and how his memory has changed. The 2023 presenter series concludes on December 16 with Timothy Good, superintendent of Lincoln Home National Historic Site, who will discuss how Lincoln was remembered in the nineteenth and early twentieth century.
