Vicksburg National Military Park Annual Pass

Vicksburg Annual Pass - $20.00 per year (valid for one year from date of purchase; does not offer discounts at the cooperating association bookstores.)

Beginning January 1, 2009, Vicksburg National Military Park will continue implementation of the Fee Demonstration Program mandated by Congress which will affect the Vicksburg Annual Park Pass. Changes include the following:

1. Authorization of two individuals on the non-transferable pass.

2. Complimentary passes will no longer be available.

3. Pass holders wishing to obtain additional passes for household members may purchase as many as necessary.

Annual Pass

America the Beautiful – National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass – Annual Pass – Cost $80. This pass is available to the general public and provides access to, and use of, Federal recreation sites that charge an Entrance or Standard Amenity Fee for a year, beginning from the date of sale. The pass admits the pass holder and passengers in a non-commercial vehicle at per vehicle fee areas and pass holder + 3 adults, not to exceed 4 adults, at per person fee areas, (children under 16 are admitted free). The pass can be obtained in person at the park, by calling 1-888-ASK-USGS, Ext. 1, or via the Internet at http://store.usgs.gov/pass.
 
Senior Pass

Senior Pass

America the Beautiful – National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass – Senior Pass – Cost $10. This is a lifetime pass for U. S. citizens or permanent residents age 62 or over. The pass provides access to, and use of, Federal recreation sites that charge an Entrance or Standard Amenity. The pass admits the pass holder and passengers in a non-commercial vehicle at per vehicle fee areas and pass holder + 3 adults, not to exceed 4 adults, at per person fee areas, (children under 16 are admitted free). The pass can only be obtained in person at the park. The Senior pass provides a 50 percent discount on some Expanded Amenity Fees charged for facilities and services such as camping, swimming, boat launch, and specialized interpretive services. In some cases where Expanded Amenity Fees are charged, only the pass holder will be given the 50 percent reduction. The pass in non-transferable and generally does NOT cover or reduce special recreation permit fees or fees charged by concessionaires.
 
Access Pass

Access Pass

America the Beautiful – National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass – Access Pass – Free. This is a lifetime pass for U. S. citizens or permanent residents with permanent disabilities. Documentation is required to obtain the pass. Acceptable documentation includes: statement by a licensed physician; document issued by Federal agency such as the Veteran’s Administration, Social Security Disability Income or Supplemental Security Income; or document issued by a State agency such as a vocational rehabilitation agency. The pass provides access to, and use of, Federal recreation sites that charge an Entrance or Standard Amenity. The pass admits the pass holder and passengers in a non-commercial vehicle at per vehicle fee areas and pass holder + 3 adults, not to exceed 4 adults, at per person fee areas, (children under 16 are admitted free). The pass can only be obtained in person at the park.

Volunteer Pass

America the Beautiful - National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass - Volunteer Pass - Free. This pass is for volunteers acquiring 500 service hours on a cumulative basis. It provides access to, and use of, Federal recreation sites that charge an Entrance or Standard Amenity Fee for a year, beginning from the date of award. The pass admits the pass holder and passengers in a non-commercial vehicle at per vehicle fee areas and pass holder + 3 adults, not to exceed 4 adults, at per person fee areas, (children under 16 are admitted free).

2014-Military-Pass-Front

Military Pass

America the Beautiful - National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass - Military Pass - Free. The Annual Pass for Military is a free pass for all active military personnel and their dependents. This pass will be available through December 31, 2013 and accepted for use through the end of December 2014. The Annual Pass - Military is available in person at National Park or Fish & Wildlife entrance stations, as well as many other NPS, FWS, USDA FS, and BLM offices and visitor centers. Military members and their dependents should contact local offices before visiting to determine whether passes are available at their destination. The Interagency Pass Program Office is also working the Department of Defense (DoD) to make the pass available at military installations across the nation.

Active military personnel and their dependents qualify for this benefit. The military has many classifications of personnel, and the DoD has identified the 2 forms of ID outlined below as the only way to determine if someone qualifies for this benefit.

Military Members - In order to qualify for the Annual Pass - Military, the military member must present the following: Department of Defense ID (CAC Card) that verifies that the person is an active member of the U.S. military

Dependents - In order to qualify for the pass, the dependent of a military member must present the following: Department of Defense ID (DD Form 1173) that identifies the dependent and his/her sponsor. Dependents may not use any other type of ID to obtain a pass.

Golden Eagle Passport and National Parks Pass and Golden Eagle Hologram - These passes have been discontinued and replaced by the America the Beautiful – National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass – Annual Pass.

Golden Age Passport - This pass has been discontinued and replaced by the America the Beautiful – National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass – Senior Pass.

Golden Access Passport - This pass has been discontinued and replaced by the America the Beautiful – National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass – Access Pass.

All National Parks Passes, Golden Eagle, Golden Eagle Hologram, Golden Access and Golden Age Passports will continue to be honored according to the provisions of the pass. Only paper Golden Age and Access Passports may be exchanged free of charge for new plastic passes.

Thomas O. Selfridge

Thomas O. Selfridge, captain of the USS Cairo, commanded three boats which sank during the war. Each began with the letter "C"-Cumberland, Cairo, and Conestoga. The coincidence was noted after the Conestoga sank, and Selfridge was assigned to the USS Osage, which survived to the end of the war.
