Do Business With Us

Businesses in these parks provide vital services for our visitors and offer economic opportunities for people in nearby communities. Federal regulations prohibit engaging in or soliciting any business in park areas, except in accordance with the provisions of a permit, contract, or other written agreement with the United States. Authorized commercial services within Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks fall under two categories, concession contracts and Commercial Use Authorizations.

Concessioners

Concessions contractors provide certain visitor services, including overnight accommodations, food and beverage services, retail sales, recreational winter equipment rental and horseback riding and pack stock services.

Delaware North Company holds the contract for overnight accommodations, food and beverage services, retail sales, and recreational winter equipment rental in these parks. For more information about services provided by Delaware North Company or to make a reservation, please visit the Delaware North website.

Guided horseback rides are available during the summer at the Grant Grove Stables and Cedar Grove Pack Station.

Commercial Use Authorizations (CUAs)

Commercial Use Authorizations (CUAs) are issued for all appropriate commercial services conducted by a private person, corporation, or other private entity. For more information about CUAs, including information and documents for current CUA holders, see the Commercial Use Authorization webpage.

Wilderness CUAs

The Parks have authorized a limited number of CUAs valid for a two-year period from January 1, 2024 thorough December 31, 2025.

Beginning on September 20, 2023 we are re-soliciting applications to provide Guided Hiking, Guided Fishing Instruction, Guided Backpacking, Guided Photography Instructions (workshop), Guided Mountaineering, Guided Backcoutntry Ski Mountaineering, Guided Nordic Activities (snowshoeing/skiing), Guided Portering (dunnage/gear transport), and Guided Pack and Saddle (stock), visitor services through the issuance of Commercial Use Authorizations (CUA) within the Wilderness throughout Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. A limited number of CUAs will be authorized for a two-year period, January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2025.

The re-solicitation does the following:
1. Provides updates to the Application package.
2. Provides an application checklist for stock and non-stock applications.
3. Corrects NPS technological issues.

Application packages received during the first solicitation will not be considered. All applicants MUST re-submit application packages by the deadline. Re-submission of an application does not require an additional fee. Payment confirmation must be included with a re-submitted application.

Complete applications for a CUA to operate in the Wilderness within Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time) on October 11, 2023. Application submissions will be accepted by emailing e-mail us or U.S. Mail addressed to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, Commercial Services Office, 47050 Generals Highway, Three Rivers, CA 93271.

Applicants are solely responsible for ensuring their application package is complete and is submitted by the closing date (October 11, 2023). The NPS will not provide information on whether an application package is determined to be ‘complete’ while the re-solicitation is open. To do this might be perceived as giving preference to any party requesting application package review before the closing date.

As stated in the re-solicitation, “Incomplete application packages, or packages not received by the deadline will not be considered. Applicants will not be contacted regarding missing or late information after the deadline.” A complete application package means the application package contains all information required by the re-solicitation. Please reference the application checklists.

If you review your application package and determine changes are necessary or you failed to submit required information, you must resubmit the application package in full and provide a cover letter notifying the NPS you request to withdraw your originally submitted application package by October 11, 2023.

Checklists to consider using when completing the applications:

Here are some additional tips to consider when applying:

• Carefully read the entire solicitation, including instructions and appendices and review your application and all supporting documents before the closing deadline to ensure completeness.

• Review your application package and confirm you selected each CSD allocation type for which you are applying.

• Note where there are page limits in the Narrative Response and ensure your response does not exceed those page limits as information provided in excess of those page limits will not be considered.

• Review insurance requirements, coverages, additional insured, etc. and provide a copy of the certificate in the application package. A current insurance certificate showing the coverage as outlined in the solicitation must be submitted with the application. The NPS will not accept previous/on file insurance certificates from current operators or insurance certificates sent separately by insurance provider as part of an application package.

• Pay the non-refundable application fee and include payment verification in the application package.

• Contact State or Local government agencies to determine if your activity requires a Business License and if so, include in the application package. The NPS will not determine Business License requirements.

• Check this website for updates or new information during the solicitation.
