COPPER CENTER, AK – The Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve Subsistence Resource Commission will meet at the Visitor Center in Copper Center (Mile 106.8 Richardson Highway) and by teleconference on Wednesday, September 27 and Thursday, September 28, 2023, to consider a range of issues related to subsistence hunting and fishing in the park.
Commission business will include an opportunity to comment on proposals to change federal subsistence hunting and trapping regulations and on two temporary special action requests impacting Nelchina caribou herd winter hunts in Units 11, 12 and 13. Additionally, a variety of reports will be presented. The teleconference is open to the public, and public testimony opportunities are provided. Members of the public are encouraged to participate. Written comments may also be emailed to WRST_subsistence@nps.gov by 4 PM on Monday, September 25, for presentation during the meeting.
On September 27, the meeting will start at 9 AM and recess for the day at 5 PM or upon completion of business. On September 28, the meeting will start at 9 AM and continue until business is completed. If business is completed on September 27, the meeting will adjourn, and no meeting will take place on September 28.
