Federal subsistence fishing permits for the upper Copper River available starting May 10

Federal subsistence fishing permits for the upper Copper River will be available starting May 10 at the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve Visitor Center in Copper Center and the Slana Ranger Station. The Visitor Center and Ranger Station are open Monday through Friday until Memorial Day and seven days a week thereafter.

Please bring a photo ID (such as a drivers license or state issued identification card) and proof of your local physical address (such as a voter registration card or utility bill listing a physical address) when you come to get a permit.

Permit applicants must be federally qualified subsistence users. They must have their primary permanent residence in rural Alaska, and their community must be listed in the “Species/Customary & Traditional Use Determination” column of the Federal Subsistence Management Regulations Booklet for the Harvest of Fish and Shellfish for the intended species and subdistrict.
