COPPER CENTER, AK – Park staff will host several community meetings to introduce a funding opportunity to address subsistence food security resilience. Proposed projects should benefit the public at large, relate in some manner to subsistence resources harvested from Federal public lands and/or associated waters, and be designed specifically to enhance food security resilience for subsistence-dependent rural communities where food security concerns are attributable in part to climate-related environmental changes.

Community members are invited to attend meetings at the following locations to discuss project ideas and learn how to apply:

  • Tok, Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center, July 16 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Slana, Slana Community Hall (4-Mile Road), July 17 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Kenny Lake, Kenny Lake Community Hall, July 30 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Copper Center, Wrangell-St. Elias Visitor Center at Mile 106.8 Richardson Highway, August 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • McCarthy, Tony Zak’s, August 7 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
