Copper Center, AK - Please join Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve along with tens of thousands of volunteers throughout the country to take part in an adventure that has become a family tradition among generations. Families, students, birders and scientists - armed with binoculars, bird guides and checklists - go out on an annual mission to experience the beauty of nature and track and count wild birds.

The park is looking for volunteers to participate in the annual Christmas Bird Count on Friday, December 14th. Volunteers will meet at 9:00 a.m. at the park Visitor Center for an orientation of the day's activities and to establish your count area.A map and bird checklist will be provided. If you don't want to brave the cold on foot, ski or vehicle, you can also participate in the bird count at home by monitoring your bird feeder.

Please contact the park to coordinate your bird count entries. For more information contact Todd Stoeberl, Chief of Interpretation at 907-822-7251.
