Women’s Rights NHP Celebrates National Parks Week with Special Program

Seneca Falls, NY - Women's Rights National Historical Park invites the public to attend a special program in its celebration of National Parks Week on Saturday, April 28, at 2:00 p.m. in the Guntzel Theater, located in the park's Visitor Center at 136 Fall Street in downtown Seneca Falls. Park Ranger John Stoudt will present an illustrated talk entitled, "Soldiers Under Two Flags: The Cavada Brothers in the American Civil War and Cuba's Ten Years' War."

Ranger Stoudt's presentation will explore the rich diversity of Hispanic American heritage in the national parks, including the stories of two Union soldiers who served in the Civil War and who later fought for Cuban independence."The National Park Service is commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, and several national parks, including Women's Rights National Historical Park, contain stories of the people and the events of that era," said Stoudt."I am excited to be able to share these stories with visitors during National Parks Week."

Women's Rights National Historical Park exists to commemorate and preserve the events of the First Women's Rights Convention that was held in Seneca Falls in 1848."We are proud to be part of the National Park system, and we invite everyone to join us in celebrating our shared history and culture during national Parks Week," said Superintendent Tammy Duchesne.

The park is presenting this special program during its celebration of National Parks Week from April 21-29.During National Park Week, April 21-29, all 397 national parks offer free admission, all week long.The National Park Service is proud to once again join with the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America's National parks, to present National Park Week.
