Seneca Falls, NY –Women’s Rights National Historical Park is proud to announce Women’s Equality Week which will highlight 27 women that have made serious contributions in their fields since the passage of the 19th amendment in 1920. This nine-day celebration will include daily “Chapel Chats” on eight important women, as well as a display commemorating an additional 19 women outstanding in their field.
The accomplishments of these women, made possible by passage of the 19th Amendment, in fields such as Activism, Government, Literature, and Athletics will be honored each day by a different ranger from Women’s Rights National Historical Park. Rangers will offer two presentations per day 11:00 am and 3:00 pm on one woman who has made strides in her field.
Presentations begin on 8/19/2017 with Civil Rights Activist Ruby Nells Sales, Jeannette Rankin, US House of Representatives 8/20, Serena Williams, Athlete 8/21, Jackie Cochran 8/22, Anthropologist Margaret Mead, 8/23, Author Zora Neale Hurston, 8/24, Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin 8/25. All eight women will be celebrated throughout the day on Women’s Equality Day with presentations on Saturday August 26, 2017, and finishing the week with Maya Angelou 8/27.
There will be a further performance by the Bristol Valley Theater at 2 pm on Women’s Equality Day ‘Excerpts from Silent Sky’ by Lauren Gunderson.
