Open House and Gallery Talk for “Women in Movement” Exhibit!

Seneca Falls, NY- To celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, Women’s Rights National Historical Park will host a Gallery Talk by artist Andrea Arroyo for her art exhibition “Women in Movement.” The Gallery Talk will be offered on Saturday, September 27^th at 1:00 pm, followed by a short tour of the gallery at 1:30 pm. A special ranger talk “Words”, which examines Spanish words that have found common use in the English language, will be offered at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow from 2:30 to 4:00 pm.

"The exhibition, 'Women in Movement,' includes artworks that examine notions of memory, belonging, and body image that honor the resilience of the female spirit.To create some of these artworks, the artist has repurposed evocative garments collected from women in her community, such as a Mexican huipil, and an Indian prayer shawl. The exhibit also includes a series of delicate paintings on vintage lace depicting mythical and historical women of achievement from around the world, including two pieces in tribute to the pioneers of the Women's Movement in the US, Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton.

"Women in Movement" will be on exhibit in the park's visitor center at 136 Fall Street, Seneca Falls, NY from September 17th through October 15^th, Wednesdays through Sundays from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. Admission to the Open House and to the exhibit is free.
