LOCAL STUDENT ART WORK ON DISPLAY AT LOCAL NATIONAL PARK SERVICE SITE

Seneca Falls, NY – The art work of local student artists from Syracuse to Bloomfield, NY is on exhibit this month at Women's Rights National Historical Park in Seneca Falls. Immediate Admission to all the Rights and Privilegesis anexhibit of textile art that creatively expresses ideas and thoughts about women's rights and the women's rights movement. The title and theme for this exhibit is taken from a phrase found in the Declaration of Sentiments, first read at the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848. 

Consisting of 60 works of art, the exhibit is sponsored by the National Park Service, in cooperation with the Dream Rocket Project of the International Fiber Collaborative. The Dream Rocket Project has been collecting 8,000 works of art from schools and youth groups across the country since 2009. These works of art will eventually be stitched together to wrap a Saturn V Moon Rocket replica at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama for a temporary public art exhibition. Immediate Admission to all the Rights and Privilegesis available for viewing in the park visitor center at 136 Fall Street, Seneca Falls, NY and is open now through April 30, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Wednesday through Sunday. 

Local schools that are participating in the art project include Mynderse Academy from Seneca Falls; Geneva High School from Geneva; Midlakes High School from Clifton Springs; Fowler High School, Corcoran High School, Grant Middle School, Meacham Elementary School, Franklin Elementary School, and the Institute of Technology, all from Syracuse; Bloomfield Elementary School, Bloomfield Middle School, and Bloomfield High School, all from East Bloomfield; Emily Howland Elementary School from Aurora; and North Rose-Wolcott High School from Wolcott. Also participating is Daisy Troop 482 from Macedon.

Students participating in the Dream Rocket Project who visit the park on Saturday, April 26^thfor National Junior Ranger Day will have their photograph taken with their art work and will be invited to enter their name in a drawing for a National Park Service gift bag. The drawing will be held at 4:00 pm.

Women's Rights National Historical Park is open Wednesday through Sunday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Tours of the Wesleyan Chapel and of the Elizabeth Cady Stanton house are offered every day at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. The park also offers a 25 minute orientation film,Dreams of Equality, and a museum with exhibits. Admission to Women's Rights National Historical Park is free.
