Women's Rights National Historical Park Announces Convention Days 2017, July 14-16

Seneca Falls, NY – Women’s Rights National Historical Park is proud to announce the Convention Days 2017 which commemorates the First Women’s Rights Convention in the United States in 1848. The three-day festival will include historical actors, live music, children’s activities, art demonstrations, theater performance, movie screenings and 24 participating organizations.

Saturday July 15th has been declared Indigenous Women’s Day. A proclamation in the morning will be followed with a concert by Joanne Shenandoah as well as cornhusk and basket-weaving demonstrations by Ganondagan State Historic Site. Additional programming will highlight the contributions of indigenous peoples to the Women’s Rights Movement.

The Convention Days keynote speaker is Elizabeth Nyamayaro, Senior Advisor to the Undersecretary General, from UN Women. Ms. Nyamayaro will speak on the HeForShe Global Solidarity Movement Saturday July 15 at 11:00 am in Declaration Park. For full programming and information please visit: go.nps.gov/ConventionDays2017
