Superintendent Linda L. Stoll announced today that as part of its centennial celebration, Wind Cave National Park would like to honor deceased individuals who aided in the development and growth of the national park. The park is looking for the names of employees or people who helped establish, explore, or who supported the park in any capacity throughout its long history. These names could include former members of the CCC camp located at Wind Cave, the natural history association, concession workers, or people who just loved the park.
To honor these past friends, the park created decorations to be placed on individual graves in the Custer and Hot Springs cemeteries over Memorial Day Weekend. The park is asking for assistance in locating the names of these people. If you know of deceased individuals with a connection to Wind Cave National Park, please contact Park Ranger Becky Morford at 605-745-4600, or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, by April 30. Superintendent Stoll said, “There have always been strong ties between the local communities and Wind Cave National Park. We would like to take this opportunity to honor former friends who helped make and sustain this wonderful place.”
